Travel: Tahitian Escape

As New Zealand slowly wakes up from their dreamy winter, I remember my recent trip to Bora Bora, where sunshine is infinite and the ocean feels like velvet  -- an underwater photographer's dream.

I have always been inspired by the ocean. Growing up on the Whangaparaoa peninsula, I was constantly surrounded by the colours of the sea. Every summer, my friends and I would practically live at the beach, moving on from one sandy shore to another. I realised, once I moved to the city, how much I had relied on the natural waters to calm me; especially at night. When I was freshly out of my childhood-home, it took me a little while to get used to the fact that I couldn't hear the waves at night, gently swaying me to the land of sleep. Nature's lullaby was replaced by car-horns, sirens and fearless teenagers. Although I enjoy living in the city just as much, my love and passion for the ocean has grown and has become a vital part to my photographic and personal journey.

I hope you get to forget your worries and deadlines just for a minute and lose yourself in this alluring, bewitching daydream.
